
Young Nigerians Shine In Inaugural Chief Of Air Staff Literary Competition
In a momentous celebration of creativity and intellectual excellence, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Tuesday, 20 May 2025, announced the winners of the maiden edition of the Chief of the Air Staff Literary Competition (CASLC). The announcement was made during the NAF 61st Anniversary Reunion Dinner held at the NAF Officers’ Mess and Suites, Kado, Abuja.
As part of the NAF’s 61st Anniversary celebrations, the literary competition featured Essay, Poetry, and Arts categories, drawing 736 entries nationwide to promote creativity and youth engagement. The winner of the Art category is Asmau Rozalina from Lawal Darul Ilm Academy, Zaria. In the Poetry category, Ferdinand Nwokolo of St Paul Minor Seminary, Benin City, claimed the top spot. The Essay category was won by Ameh Ehi Theresa from the University of Jos.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, praised participants of the CAS Literary Competition for their outstanding talent and urged youths to embrace constructive platforms like the CASLC. Entries were assessed in three rigorous stages by a panel of distinguished experts, including Professor Caroline Ogbonna of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Mr Salisu Omehi Yahaya, and Mr Ibraheem Rasheed Odunayo.
Speaking at the Reunion Dinner, Guest of Honour and former CAS, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, commended the initiative and thanked the current leadership for creating a platform that reunited veterans. The CAS Literary Competition is set to become a regular part of NAF anniversary celebrations, fostering excellence, critical thinking, and creativity among future leaders.
