
Zonal Coordinator, Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association 33 Artillery Brigade Chapter Pays Courtesy Visit To Commander 33 Artillery Brigade
The Zonal Coordinator, Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), 33 Artillery Brigade Chapter, Mrs Maryam Abbas Shehu, alongside members of her Executive Council (EXCO), on Monday 4 May 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander 33 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General SS Shehu.
The visit, which formed part of her familiarization tour within the Cantonment was aimed at strengthening ties and enhancing the welfare of officers’ families. During the visit, the Zonal Coordinator commended the Commander for his leadership and continued support to NAOWA activities within the Brigade.
In her remarks, Mrs Shehu highlighted the importance of education and empowerment in improving the wellbeing of families. She appealed for sustained support towards the development of NAOWA school as well as vocational training centres, noting that such initiatives would enhance skill acquisition programmes for spouses and youths within the Cantonment.
Delivering his remarks, the Commander 33 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General SS Shehu, appreciated the visit and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting NAOWA programmes, particularly those geared towards education and empowerment.
As part of the tour, the Zonal Coordinator and her team also paid a courtesy visit to the Garrison Commander, Lieutenant Colonel EA Alabi, where discussions centred on collaboration for improved welfare and security within the Cantonment.
The team further conducted an inspection of the NAOWA School to assess facilities and identify areas requiring improvement. The visit culminated in an interactive session with all NAOWA members, where issues affecting the school and their welfare were discussed and suggestions for improvement were proferred. The visit underscored NAOWA’s commitment to promoting unity, welfare and socio-economic development among families of Nigerian Army personnel in the Cantonment.
