Chile fans aren’t happy after back-to-back World Cup qualifiers defeat, and they have a scapegoat…the movie star girlfriend of star player Alexis Sanchez.

After going down 1-0 to Bolivia to further jeopardize their chances of being in Russia next year, more than 50,000 Chile fans say they are going to march on the national stadium and demand that Sanchez breaks up with his girlfriend Mayte Rodriguez.

The wantaway Arsenal forward has come in for heavy criticism this week over his performances for the national team this week, with a former U20 coach Jose Sulantay saying he player looked “fatter than normal”, Sun writes.

And in a bid to get their talismanic forward back to his best ahead of the two remaining qualifying games, supporters say they will march on the streets of the capital Santiago and call for his return to bachelorhood.

A Facebook page organising the event has 55,000 members, with a further 13,000 who say they are “interested” in attending.

“March for Alexis Sanchez to break up with Mayte Rodriguez and return to his best for the World Cup in Russia 2018,” the page reads.

It has been a turbulent summer for Alexis, who saw his dream move to Manchester City scuppered at the death, leaving him with the unenviable task of winning back the Arsenal faithful.

But this is not the first time the 28-year-old has been the subject of protest from fans in his homeland..

More than 14,000 signed up for a protest earlier this year demanding that the 28-year-old leave Arsenal: only five turned up.

They can’t do worse this time, surely.
