The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a what it described as a smooth conduct of the Anambra Gubernatorial elections so far.
The CNPP stated that what has transpired in Anambra so far is a “Reflection of the will of the people.” The body also sounded a warning against rumours of altering the Anambra State election results in favour of a particular interest.
“INEC has so far played the role of a neutral umpire and has proven that there is hope for Nigerians in 2023 general elections if the commission continues with the current trend in their performance in future elections.
“The hitches experienced as a result of the deployment of new technologies in the Anambra State governorship election are understandable as the remedies by the commission ensured that the outcome was not adversely affected.
These were contained in a press statement signed by its Secretary General, Chief Willy Ezugwu and sighted by Eons Intelligence.
The elections have however spilled into Tuesday for the concluding parts. It is worthy of note that the candidate of the APGA, Chukwuma Soludo is in comfortable lead in eighteen out of twenty Local Government Areas already declared.
The CNPP called on the eventual victor and the vanquished to display humility and magnanimity, as the most important factor in all is how to improve the the lives of Anambrarians in general.
The CNPP counselled that improving the lives of indegenes and residents of Anambra starts from maintaining peace and order in all ramifications. The CNPP said political and state actors lose the moral right to expect or demand a peaceful and law abiding citizens base in the face of glaring electoral frauds.
