Nigerian Army Resource Center Holds Weekly Briefing By Senior Research Fellows and Subject Experts

The Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), Abuja today held the Monday edition of the Weekly Subject Experts’ Briefing at Hall B, TY Buratai Block, NARC, Abuja. Four Subject Experts assigned to cover their respective areas of expertise made presentations.

The first presentation was made by Brigadier General OD Donibo, Subject Expert for Central America. The General’s presentation further emphasized the dangers of Cyber Attacks with reference to the increased damage being done to Costa Rica through the Conti Ransomware. Noting that Nigeria was also vulnerable due to the increased use of technology and internet, the General made recommendations for deal with cyber attacks and the need to bolster the public institutions in particular.

The second presentation was by Brigadier General AA Adanogu Subject Expert on Middle East. The presentation focused on the United Arab Emirates drawing parallels with the pervasive state of Road Traffic Accident and insecurity in Nigeria. The General noted the different solutions adopted by UAE such as the installation of cameras on school buses. With reference to Nigeria, he highlighted the importance of technology and effective punishment for road traffic law abusers in Nigeria in other to stem this negative trend. Based on this, suggestions for addressing the problem were made and recommendations.

The third presentation was made by Major General LF Abdullahi, Subject Expert on Indian sub-continent. He noted the improvements in Bangladesh GDP made possible due to economic reforms and other similar innovative trends. General Abdullahi said, Nigeria must improve their GDP being a very important indicator of the economic strength of the Nation. Consequently, ways to improve the National economy situation were outlined.

The last and final presentation was by Brigadier General ASO Onilenla, Subject Expert South East Asia. His presentation addressed the current challenges of Brain Drain in Malaysia. He made comparison with Nigeria, noting that Nigeria also suffered similar incidents of brain drain and the depletion of the work force. He also highlighted the positive and negative of Brain Drain while also suggesting ways forward to curtail the high rate of Brain Drain in Nigeria.

Present at the briefing were the Executive Director Consult, NARC Abuja, Major General JGK Myam, Director of Research, Professor CBN Ogbogbo and other management staff, Senior Research Fellows and Research Fellows, Consultants, senior officers, and other staff of the Centre.
