2016 MOBO Awards Full List of Winners
The 2016 edition of the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards has finally crawled to an end, and this year sees singer and songwriter Craig David beating his contemporaries to cop the ‘Best Male Act’.
According to Mirror UK, the ceremony was held last night at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro centre, and some of the acts that made appearances include Craig David, Clean Bandit and Professor Green.
Excited that he is winning his 9th MOBO award, 35-year-old Craig David said:
“I’m overwhelmed and honoured. The public have supported me from the beginning. To be back here with a new album it’s just crazy. I just want to thank everyone who’s been there since 1999 and the Artful Dodger days.
“The crowds here have been amazing over the course of my 16 years performing, so to be actually able to perform here again – and the MOBOs have supported me from 2000, so it’s been an amazing journey. It’s a celebration of music and I’m just happy to be a part of it to be honest.”
Meanwhile, Africa’s hottest artist, Wizkid, who recently took home the best awards at the 2016 MAMA, has also clinched the Best African Act, affirming his reign as the best voice of his generation.
