Army Chief Commissions Multiple Projects In Ondo State, Charges Personnel To Remain Unshakably Loyal

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Nigerian Army (NA) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has commissioned multiple infrastructural projects in Akure, the Ondo State capital.The projects which consist of remodelled cum renovated Headquarters of 32 Artillery Brigade office complex and newly constructed official residence of the Brigade Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM), were inaugurated today Wednesday 2 August 2023 at Owena Cantonment, Akure.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the COAS enunciated, that as part of the pillars of his Command Philosophy, his resolve is to provide sound administrative support to personnel of the NA and their families. He assured all, that the NA under his watch will continue to develop and improve on infrastructural facilities across all NA formations, units and barracks to provide deserved incentives and succor to all personnel and their families. He enjoined the personnel to judiciously utilize and maintain the facilities. The Army Chief charged all personnel of the NA to remain unshakably loyal to the Constitution and Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Giving a profile of the projects, the Commander 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Muktar Adamu, revealed that the fully furnished office complex contains 32 Offices, a Conference Room, Operations Room, Canteen and Library, while the RSM’s House is a 3 ensuite bedroom bungalow. The Commander thanked the COAS for his outstanding leadership and for providing befitting office accommodation for the Brigade, adding that the projects will highly motivate the personnel to be more productive in ensuring peace and security in the Brigade’s area of responsibility.

In the same vein, the COAS has also commissioned a Special Intervention Civil Military Cooperation Project in Oke-Bola community, Akure. The project is the remodelling and renovation of Local Authority Primary School II, Oke- Bola. At the inauguration of the project, the project executor, Maj Gen Omotomilola Akintade (rtd) disclosed that the project comprised, four blocks of nine Classrooms and a Hall, Basketball Court with spectators’ pavilion, Five – Aside Football Pitch with two spectators’ pavilions, Sports Changing rooms, Lavatories, Bore hole for water reticulation, Perimeter fence, electrification, solar lights and a play ground.

Gen Akintade, who expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to give back to the society, also lauded the COAS for sponsoring the intervention project in his alma-mater. He noted that it will create a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning in the school. He also urged the staff and pupils of the school to jealously guard and maintain the facilities.
