BANDITS ABDUCT 60 VILLAGERS IN RUWAN TOFA VILLAGE, ZAMFAFRA

About 60 villagers have been abducted by bandits in Ruwan Tofa village in Maru Local government area of Zamfara state.

Intelligence gathered that the bandits who attacked the village on Tuesday set vehicles and shops on fire before whisking their captives away.

The fresh attack and abduction mass abduction of people in Zamfara came barely 24 hours after the release of 279 female students who were abducted from their school in Jangebe town located in Talata Mafara local government area of the state on February 26.

The Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle has insisted that no ransom was paid for the release of the schoolgirls. Yet, no bandit has been arrested in connection with kidnappings in the state.

Matawalle, who put the number of recovered schoolgirls at 279 as opposed to 317 schoolgirls reported to have been abducted from their school, said the students were recovered with the help of repentant bandits.

Major General Babagana Monguno (retd.), the National Security Adviser on Tuesday revealed that there are certain individuals benefiting from Nigeria’s insecurity especially kidnapping. The NSA, however, mentioned no name but hinted that some persons have been placed on surveillance.
