Change Of Baton In NAEME As Maj. Gen. Hassan Gadem Assumes Command, Pledges To Build On Predecessor’s Legacies

Following the recent appointment and redeployment of senior officers across Nigerian Army formations and units, Major General Hassan Gadem Tafida has assumed Command as the 22nd Commander Corps of Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (NAEME).

The Handing and Taking Over ceremony took place at the Headquarters Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, At Major General Sule Labaran Conference Room, Bonny Cantonment, Victoria Island, Lagos on Friday 14 July, 2023.

Speaking during the event, the outgoing Commander Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Major General Abdulkadir Mohammed appreciated officers and men of the Corps for their supports, loyalty and commitment throughout his tour of duty. He stated that the Corps is saddled with the responsibility of providing Equipment Support for Nigerian Army. This requires officers and men of the Corps to be more professionals at every given time.

Additionally, he expressed his gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj Gen TA Lagbaja for giving him the opportunity to continue to serve the Nigerian Army in a higher capacity.

Major General A Mohammed noted that the collective contributions of officers and men under command during his tenure as Commander Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers largely contributed to the successes he achieved. He therefore, implored them to reciprocate same to his successor whom he described as a highly committed and decorated senior officer with high moral standard.

In his response, the incoming Commander Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Major General Hassan Gadem Tafida expressed his appreciation to the outgoing Corps Commander for his good leadership throughout the period of his command, and swift handover of Command to him. He commended the achievements of the outgoing Commander, especially in the areas of facilitating the constructions of the new Headquarters at Giri Abuja and other achievements to the Corps to improve service delivery by the Corps,

He also started that the outgoing commander leadership is topnotch while assuring his predecessor of his commitment to build on his good legacies to further reposition the Corps for a good service delivery.

General Tafida urged the personnel under command to key into his agenda of moving the Corps to a greater height, stressing that the task of moving the Corps forward is the collective responsibility of all. He further expressed gratitude to the COAS, for finding him worthy of the appointment, assuring him of his commitment towards achieving the COAS Vision for the NA.

Highlights of the event include the signing of Handing and Taking Over Notes, decoration of the new Commander Corps of Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers with the Corps Insignia, presentation of the Corps Flag, lowering and hoisting of flags, inspection of Quarter Guard, and Group Photograph.
