COAS Declares Open Project Management Workshop, Charges Engineer Officers To Be Competent and Proficient

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Major General Taoreed Lagbaja has today 18 July 2023 declared open the Project Management Workshop 2023 organised by the Nigerian Army Special Projects holding at the Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering Officers’ Mess Makurdi.

The workshop with the theme: “ Efficient Risk Management in Project Delivery in the Nigerian Army ” was aimed at acquainting the participants on common risk management practice in construction work with a goal of ensuring safety and efficient use of project resources within the NA.

In his opening remarks, the COAS said the Nigerian Army (NA) executes most of its projects through direct labour and therefore, enjoin all NA Engineer Officers to take advantage of the workshop to build their capacity and develop self-competences. G

General Lagbaja charges officers to be proficient in risk management in the delivery of high quality projects for sustenance drive of providing adequate facilities for the NA. He further reiterated his desire to improving the welfare of officers and soldiers in line with his Command Philosophy which is to “Transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped and highly motivated force towards achieving our Constitutional Responsibility within a Joint Environment”.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Coordinator, Nigerian Army Special Projects Major General Shamsudeen Shafaru urged all participants to tap from the carefully selected pool of resource persons in order to maximize the benefits of the workshop.

The Corps Commander Nigerian Army Engineers, Major General Philips Eromosele thanked the COAS for his unfliching support to the Nigerian Army Engineers. He said the workshop would further enlighten officers on the functionality, safety and efficiency of the built environment. He encouraged participants to be committed to the workshop so as to garner more understanding in identification, assessment and prioritization of risks in construction.
