Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army Visits NACOLM

In line with the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) drive for realistic training and human capacity development as well as packages lined up for students of Logistics Staff Course (LSC) 21/2024, the Commander Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Nigerian Army (NA) Major Gen KO Aligbe, who was also the Guest Lecturer paid an official visit to NACOLM and was received by the Commandant NACOLM Major General Wisdom Etuk at the College Annex Campus Moloney, Lagos on 30 April 2024.

In his welcome address, the Commandant NACOLM stated that he was honoured and privileged to welcome the Commander TRADOC NA to the Ogunmudia Hall, NACOLM Annex Campus Moloney venue for his lecture. He further stated that the Guest Lecturer is one of the pioneer LSC students (LSC 1/2004), a former member of Directing Staff of the noble institution and a distinguished senior officer who supervises NA training institutions including NACOLM.

General Etuk added that in playing its part as a training institution and as a contribution towards ameliorating the challenge of insufficient mentorship of the junior leaders by the senior ones, the College started a leadership and mentorship lecture series in 2019 whereby senior officers both serving and retired were invited to give their perspectives and experiences on military leadership to guide junior officers. He however, noted that in 2020, the series was relaxed following the outbreak of COVID-19 and its effect on training activities.

Major General Etuk reiterated that he has decided to reactivate the lecture series realizing the importance and its potential on mentorship. He noted that NACOLM being the foremost military logistics training institution in Nigeria, it was further decided that the re-introduced leadership and mentorship lecture series should focus more on field logistics experience. He further commended on how the Guest Lecturer successfully commanded Operation WHIRL STROKE with all his great accomplishments, adding that students and indeed the College staff will greatly benefit from how he surmounted the logistics challenges that confronted the operation while he was there as the Commander.

The Commandant therefore urged the students to listen attentively and pay utmost attention in order to benefit maximally, adding that lessons from the lecture will definitely be most useful in their future engagements as Commanders and logisticians.

While delivering the lecture to the students of LSC 21/2024, the Guest lecturer Major General KO Aligbe delivered a lecture titled ‘Contemporary Military Operations and Logistics: My Experience’ Major General KO Aligbe who is also a member of the NACOLM Board of Governors spoke on background to insecurity, contemporary military operations environment, doctrine, military logistics and finally his experiences in command. The lecture had in attendance the Director of Administration Brigadier General OJ Majebi, Acting Director Logistics Studies Col JA Emuekpere (rtd), Faculty and Administrative staff as well as student officers.

Similarly, Major General Aligbe proceeded to the NACOLM campus Ojo, where he had interactive session with students of Senior Leadership and Staff Officers’ Course (SLSOC) 2/2024. He was further conducted on a guided tour of the College facilities by the Commandant, the hitch free event was climax with a group photograph and a light refreshment at the NACOLM Officers’ Mess, Ojo.
