Army Holds Sensitization Lecture On Lessons Learnt Concept For Frontline Troops

Army Headquarters (AHQ) Department of Army Transformation and Innovation (DATI) on Tuesday, 30 April 2024 held a day sensitization lecture at the Headquarters Theatre Command Officers’ Mess Maimalari Military Cantonment Maiduguri for troops of 7 Division and Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI.

The team leader, Director Lessons Learnt AHQ DATI, Major General FS Etim who represented the Chief of Transformation and Innovation (Army) Major General ZL Abubakar in his opening remarks disclosed that the essence of the lecture was to create massive awareness of the contemporary challenges confronting the nation ranging from terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, social media crimes, as well as economic sabotage with an effort to sensitize and educate troops on how to enhance their fighting and operational skills by learning from past experience under the ongoing security quagmire.

While reiterating the unwavering commitments of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja in terms of the provision of all operational platforms and other welfare needs of troops, Major General Etim enthused that the effort is geared towards actualizing the command philosophy of the COAS which is to “To transform the Nigerian Army (NA) into a Well-trained, Equipped and Highly Motivated Force Towards Achieving our Constitutional Responsibilities within a joint environment”.

Delivering the welcome remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 OPHK, Brigadier General Abubakar Haruna who was the Special Guest of Honour during the event said the lecture came at a better time when the Division was conducting simultaneous operations.

In his words “It is important to state that the objective of the sensitization is to create awareness and widespread understanding of the lesson learnt process in military operations, adding that the lecture will allow troops to use lessons learned from ongoing operations to correct mistakes and gap observed to improve on subsequent operations he said.

In appreciation to the COAS for his exemplary leadership and support to 7 Division the GOC said this has tremendously assisted in the successes recorded so far, he assured the team that the lecture will indeed add value to the overall operational activities of the Division.

The 2 lectures titled “Enhancing Warrior Ethos in the NA for Improved Combat Efficiency” and “NA Lessons Learned Process” were delivered by Brigadier General JO Are Deputy Director Training and Exercise Analysis and Major OB Onu Staff Officer Grade 2 Lesson Learnt as resource persons from AHQ DATI.

The lectures were climaxed with robust interactive sessions which created an avenue for the participants to ask relevant questions and cleared all grey areas. More so, the presence and contribution of seasoned senior officers from both Headquarters Theater Command and the 7 Division NA also added much impetus to the entire event.
