Emenike on the Verge of €2million Olympiakos Switch

Nigerian international Emmanuel Emenike is on the cusp of completing a €2million move to Greek champions Olympiakos.

Emenike, 30, was expected to land in Athens, the Greek capital, for medicals on Monday where he will officially be confirmed as the Olympiakos’ latest summer recruit, CompleteSports writes.

Greek champions Olympiakos are expected to confirm ex-Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike as one of new signings on Monday.
Bein Sports reported on Sunday night that the former Spartak Moscow striker was expected to land in Athens, the Greek capital, for medicals, where he will officially be confirmed as the Olympiakos’ latest signing.

Emenike, 30, was reportedly on the radar of many European clubs last season but he opted to stay at Turkish giants Fenerbahce till this summer before making the proposed move to Olympiakos, reported to be worth €2m.

The Nigerian is seen as the best option for the Olympiakos after Diumerci Mbokani failed medicals last week.

In addition to Bein Sports, Turkish outlet Milliyet also confirmed that Olympiakos are due to complete the deal for Emenike on Monday.

Emenike endured a sordid time at Fenerbahce under coach Dirk Advocaat last season as he was confined to the bench by the Dutchman, the Nigerian scoring eight goals in 27 matches in all competitions.

The former Spartak Moscow striker was said to be on the transfer wish-list of many European clubs last season but he opted to stay at Turkish club Fenerbahce until the end of the season before pushing through the Olympiakos deal.

Olympiakos turned to Emenike after their botched attempt to sign Congo DR striker Diumerci Mbokani who failed medicals last week.

The power-playing striker endured a wretched campaign at Fenerbahce under manager Dirk Advocaat last season as he was mostly kept on the bench by the Dutchman in favour of former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie and Senegal’s Moussa Sow.

He still managed to score eight goals in 27 matches in all competitions as he brings down the curtain on his ill-fated move to the Turkish giants.

Emenike called it quits with international football in 2015 after falling out with former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh.

He was top scorer with four goals when Nigeria won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
