Exercise Egwu Eke II: Over 5261 Persons Benefit From Free Medical Outreach

The Nigerian Army’s free medical outreach to various communities in the South East as part of the activities of Exercise EGWU EKE II, has benefited a total of 5261 persons so far. The beneficiaries were quite enthusiastic about the free medication which covers out patients services such as consultations, diagnosis, laboratory tests, dental services physiotherapy, eye clinic and dispensing of medications and eye glasses, as well as issuance of treated mosquitoes nets, deworming of children and counselling freely in Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.

The detailed statistics from the 82 Division Hospital and Medical Services shows that there was large turned out all over. Enugu State recorded 1985 beneficiaries, while Imo and Ebonyi States had 1875 and 1401, beneficiaries respectively. Added to other humanitarian activities such as distribution of bags of rice, biscuits and chocolates to primary schools pupils in the benefiting communities, the number of beneficiaries is quite high.

The free medical outreach and other humanitarian activities would be extended to Abia and Anambra States.
