The scandal rocking Ghanaian football has deepened after world football governing body Fifa hit the country’s FA chairman, Kwesi Nyantakyi with a three month ban on corruption charges.

This comes in the wake of the damaging revelations of widespread bribery in African football, particularly Ghana in a BBC investigation.

Reacting to the disclosure Friday, the chairperson of the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee provisionally announced the 90-day ban Mr Nyantakyi.

The independent Ethics Committee mentioned that the duration of the ban may be extended for an additional period not exceeding 45 days.

During this time, the CAF 1st vice president who is also a Fifa executive member, has been banned from all football activities at both national and international level (administrative, sports or any other).

The Zurich-based body announced that the ban comes into force immediately.

The decision was taken upon the request of the chairperson of the investigatory chamber of the Ethics Committee carrying out the formal investigation proceedings into Mr Nyantakyi, pursuant to art. 83 par. 1 and art. 84 par. 2 of the FIFA Code of Ethics.

Meanwhile, the Caf is yet to announce punitive measures for the Ghanaian following the expose.
