Fight Against Insurgency: Theatre Command Graduates 157 NSCDC Personnel In Weapon Handling

In an effort to boost the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the North East theatre of operations, the Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), on Saturday 4 May 2024, graduated 157 personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), who participated in weapon handling training, held at Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri.

During the ceremony, the Theatre Commander Major General Waidi Shaibu, asserted that training encompassed discipline, physical fitness, teamwork and mental resilience, aimed at preparing personnel for the rigors of combat and demand of service. This, he emphasized, forms the bedrock of professionalism, hence placing high premium on in-theatre training by headquarters OPHK.

General Shaibu acknowledged the significant contributions of sister security agencies towards fulfilling the mandate of OPHK, adding that its contributions underscored the critical necessity to prioritize the enhancement of personnel within these agencies. He further averred that addressing the security challenges required collaborative efforts was pertinent.

He charged the trainees to remain committed while using the knowledge and skills acquired to contribute meaningfully in eradicating the menace.

Earlier in his remarks, the Theatre Training Officer Brigadier General Haruna Audu, noted that the objective of the training was to equip the trainees with requisite knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to handle weapons safely and effectively in the line of duty.

While delivering the vote of thanks, the Borno State Commandant NSCDC, Faruk Boyi, thanked the Theatre Commander for committing resources and efforts to ensure the NSCDC personnel were given such training, assuring that the knowledge and skills gained by the trainees would be fully utilised in the field.

High points of the ceremony were; presentation of certificates, practical demonstration of stripping and assembling, as well as group photograph.
