GOC 81 Division Commends Commander 9 Brigade Civilian Partners As He Commissions Multiple Projects At TA Lagbaja Cantonment

The General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola has commissioned multiple infrastructural projects at Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja Cantonment, Ikeja Lagos, in furtherance of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu’s Command Philosophy which is focused on consolidating the transformation of the Nigerian Army towards bequeathing a well motivated and combat ready force capable of discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment.

The projects commissioned included the renovated Command Children School, the newly constructed 9 Brigade Operations Room as well as newly acquired digital Personnel and Vehicle Search Equipment aimed at enhancing security within the cantonment, all undertaken by the Commander 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ayokunle Olufemi Owolabi. Also commissioned was the renovated Military Primary School executed by the Rotary Club of Minimah Estate under the leadership of Rotarian Anthony Onibasa.

Speaking during the commissioning, the General Officer Commanding commended the Commander 9 Brigade for his foresight, commitment and dedication towards improving operational efficiency, welfare and educational infrastructure within the Brigade. Major General Babalola noted that the projects were clear demonstrations of purposeful leadership and strategic collaboration with relevant stakeholders in support of the Nigerian Army’s developmental objectives.

The GOC further lauded the Rotary Club of Minimah Estate and Mammy-Arena Traders Association for partnering with the Nigerian Army in uplifting educational standards through the renovation of the Military Primary School. He emphasized that quality educational infrastructure remains critical to the development of children and families within military communities.

Earlier in his remarks, the Commander 9 Brigade, Brigadier General Ayokunle Olufemi Owolabi stated that the projects were initiated to improve operational coordination, strengthen security architecture and create a conducive learning environment for pupils and students within the cantonment. He appreciated the General Officer Commanding for his continuous support and guidance towards achieving the Brigade’s mandate.

The event was attended by the District Governor Rotary International District 9112, Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin, executives of Mammy- Arena Traders Association, the Coordinator Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association and Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association 9 Brigade, senior officers, members of the Rotary Club as well as other distinguished guests.
