
GOC Calls For Collective Efforts Against Security Threats As 81 Division Hosts Zone A NCOS
In a bid to further solidify the already existing synergy between the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Correctional Service, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, played host to the Assistant Controller General, Nigeria Correctional Service, in charge of Zone ‘A’ Headquarters, Lagos. The event held on Thursday, 10 September 2026 at the Division’s Headquarters Conference Room, Victoria Island, Lagos.
While making remarks, ACG Unazi Ralphel stated that the Nigerian Correctional Service and the Nigerian Army have several areas of mutual interest and cooperation. He appreciated the GOC for the existing partnership and support between the services and the army while commending the GOC’s efforts in ensuring peace and security within Lagos and Ogun States.
In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola noted that both the services and the army had worked together over the years and emphasized that there was no competition regarding who can do it better. He stressed that the collective focus should be on addressing criminal activities and other security challenges within the Division’s Area of Responsibility. “No Security agency can do it alone” he added.
He assured the Correctional Service Boss that the Nigerian Army, particularly Headquarters 81 Division Nigerian Army, would always be available to support the Nigerian Correctional Service whenever necessary.
The GOC reassured the Assistant Controller General of the Division’s total commitment to securing Lagos State through strong collaboration. He noted that this alignment directly reflects the strategic cooperation pillar of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu’s philosophy, which promotes seamless synergy and interoperability between sister services and government security agencies.
Present during the visit were the Chief of Staff Headquarters 81 Division, Commanders and Principal Staff Officers of the Division. Highlights of the event were presentation of souvenirs, Signing of the Visitors’ Book and Group Photographs.
