
Major General SD Makolo Charges VT-4, ST-1 Graduands To Prepare For Operational Development
The Commandant, Nigerian Army Armour School, Major General Sunday Makolo has charged graduands of Victory Tank-4 (VT 4) and Safe Tank – 1 (ST 1) Conversion Courses to be operationally ready and apply the specialized skills acquired to effectively operate and maintain the latest Armoured Fighting Vehicles in the Armour Corps’ inventory.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony of VT-4 and ST-1 Conversion Courses 12/2026 at the Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya Auditorium, Obienu Barracks, Bauchi, on Friday, 11 September, 2026. The Commandant described the VT 4 and ST 1 Tanks as part of Armoured Corps inventory whose capabilities and approach alone are enough to send shivers down the spines of insurgents.
Major General Makolo urged the graduands to take proper care of the equipment entrusted to them, noting that demand for their expertise as crewmen would be critical, especially in the North East and other Theatres of Operation. He also enjoined them to be worthy ambassadors of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps and the Nigerian Army at large by discharging their duties with professionalism and discipline.
He expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Nigeran Army Medal for his guidance, logistics and financial support that ensured the success of the course. He also acknowledged the Commander, Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, Major General Umar Abubakar, as well as Chief Instructors, staff officers, soldiers, Regimental Sergeant Major and Corps members for their contributions.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of certificates to all graduands, merit awards and prizes to outstanding students and group photograph.
