A federal high court in Abuja on Tuesday ruled that Azibaola Robert, a cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan, who is facing corruption charges, be remanded in Kuje Prison, Abuja, Vanguard reports.

A federal high court in Abuja on Tuesday ordered that Azibaola Robert, a cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan, be remanded in Kuje Prison.

Robert has been in custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) since March when he was invited for questioning over a $40m contract from Sambo Dasuki, former national security adviser (NSA).

Azibaola and his wife, Stella, were arraigned before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba for allegedly receiving a $40m contract from embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

The anti-graft agency filed a seven-count charge against Robert and Stella, his wife, for allegedly using Oneplus Holding Limited, their company to get contracts from Dasuki.

Stella was taken into custody on Monday ahead of the trial.

While the court ruled that Stella could continue to enjoy the administrative bail earlier granted her by the EFCC, the judge adjourned till Wednesday to rule on the bail application for Azibaola.

Azibaola was arrested in March and has been in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He was charged for an alleged $40 million contract awarded by the immediate past National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.

On Tuesday, the EFCC arraigned Azibaola and his wife, Stella, before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba on a seven-count charge.

The anti-graft agency alleged that the couple used Oneplus Holding Limited, their company, to get contracts from Dasuki.

The court ruled that Stella should be placed on administrative bail but ordered Azibaola to be remanded till Wednesday when he will rule on his bail application.
