GUNMEN ABDUCT LECTURER FROM TARABA STATE UNIVERSITY

Intelligence have gathered that gunmen abducted a lecturer from the staff quarters of the Taraba State University

It was learnt that the victim, Umar Buba, the Head of the Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management (Faculty of Agriculture), was whisked away from the quarters around 12.15am on Sunday.

Sources say the abductors shot sporadically to displace security personnel attached to the quarters during the attack.

Professor Vincent Ado-Tenebe, the University’s Vice-Chancellor (VC), who confirmed the attack, said efforts are ongoing to rescue the lecturer.

He added that staff and students living within the confines of the school cannot challenge armed men with bare hands, noting that the management would engage concerned authorities to grant licences for staff to have their guns for their protection and that of the students.
