Mikel, Moses To Hit Eagles Camp Today Ahead of Tanzania Clash
Chelsea duo John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses are expected to join the Super Eagles squad today as they prepare to take on Tanzania in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualification tie in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital on September 3.
Moses, making a return to the team since the 1-0 loss to Egypt in Alexandria in March, has been in fine form at Chelsea this term, scoring at the weekend in the 3-0 drubbing of Burnley.
It was his second goal in as many games as he enjoys a new lease of life under new manager Antonio Conte, unlike under former boss Jose Mourinho who saw it fit to send him out on loan.
Team captain Mikel will be looking to pick up where he left off at Rio 2016 and provide more dynamic leadership to the side.
The duo is expected to hit the camp today where they’ll join the likes of Ideye Brown and Odion Ighalo as the team enters a new phase.
“After a great 3 points on Saturday now it is time for international week and I’m looking forward to seeing the lads tomorrow” Moses posted on twitter Monday.
New Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has invited 23 players for the clash as he begins his era with the team, although Nigeria will basically be playing for pride as they’ve already been bundled out of the continental fiesta in Gabon.
