NACOLM Organizes Graduation Lecture On Ethical Leadership and Sound Administration in a Joint Environment For SLSOC 1/23

In line with the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) drive for realistic training and human capacity development as well as activities lined up for the graduation of Senior Leadership and Staff Officers Course (SLSOC) 1/23, a Graduation Lecture was organised on 25 September 2023 on ‘Ethical Leadership and Sound Administration in a Joint Environment’ which was delivered by Major General DIO Ehiorobo (rtd). The Event was held recently at the TY Buratai Hall, NACOLM permanent site Ojo, Lagos.

The lecture had in attendance the Commander, Corps of Engineers (CCE) Nigerian Army (NA) Major General PE Eromosele, who was the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH), commandants of schools, commanders and commanding officers within Lagos general area amongst other invited senior officers within Ojo Military Cantonment.

In his welcoming address, the Commandant NACOLM Brigadier General Wisdom Etuk noted that the graduating students have been in the College for about 35 weeks and have received series of lectures, presentations and have been tested in several exercises. He also noted that in a bid to make them better trained officers with requisite leadership capabilities and staff proficiencies, the lecture was aptly encapsulated to reflect the objectives the course was set out to achieve.

He further reiterated that the aim of the lecture was to re-emphasize to the graduating students the need to exhibit ethical leadership attributes in the administration of men and resources. It was also to ensure very high moral standards, accountability and as well respect for the rule of law as middle-level managers in the Service.

General Etuk expatiated that the topic was not only apt but also timely as the College is keen on producing outstanding officers that would compete favourably with their counterparts wherever they find themselves. He noted that the topic was carefully considered and also in line with the Chief of Army Staff Command Philosophy.

In his remarks, Major General Philip Eromosele expressed delight to be part of the the event. He appreciated the College for organizing such an important lecture and for inviting him as the Special Guest of Honour. He added that the Lecture was enlightening and the guest lecturer did justice to the topic.

The SGOH further stressed that the importance of ethical leadership and sound administration could not be overstated, particularly in the military where the stakes are high, and the impact of leadership decisions could affect the security, efficiency and effectiveness of the NA. He therefore, urged the graduating students to hold dear to their hearts, the values of ethical leadership and always be mindful of their duty to serve with honour, integrity and accountability.
