The crisis rocking the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) reached bizarre heights today as one of the warring factions appointed a dead referee for this weekend’s NPFL clash involving Warri Wolves and Giwa FC.

The Chris Giwa-led group of the football house assigned the late referee Wale Akinsanya, who passed away during a Nigeria Referees Association fitness test on January 22, 2016, for the Week 13 fixture over the weekend.

In a statement sent to the League Management Company (LMC), signed by Yahaya Adama, the deceased referee was appointed to handle the clash billed for the Warri City Stadium, and to be assisted by Tope Orowole and Adeleke M.

This bizarre incident may not be the last to emanate from the Glass House as there seems to be no end in sight to the ongoing leadership tussle in Nigerian football as the Giwa faction this week rejected the peace move by Sports Minister Solomon Dalung.

A seven-man committee has been inaugurated to resolve the raging crisis with former NFF boss Ibrahim Galadima as its chairman.
