Nigerian Air Force Advances Regional Security Through Professional Military Education, Graduates 20 Ghanaian Officers
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing regional security and strengthening defence cooperation through professional military education with the graduation of 20 officers of the Ghana Armed Forces from the six-month Initial Personnel and Administrative Management Officers’ Course (IPAMOC) 32/2026 at the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Administrative Management (NAFIAM). The graduating cohort, comprising 18 officers of the Ghana Air Force and two officers of the Ghana Navy, underscores the NAF’s growing role as a regional centre of excellence for capacity building, equipping allied armed forces with the leadership, personnel management and administrative competencies required to address evolving security challenges. The initiative aligns with a key enabler of the Command Philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, which emphasises “Standardising Training and Mission-Focused Capability” to strengthen operational effectiveness through quality training and collaborative engagement.
Representing the CAS at the graduation ceremony on 3 July 2026, the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, Air Vice Marshal Gabriel Kehinde, described the graduation as another significant milestone in NAFIAM’s sustained delivery of world-class professional military education. He noted that the comprehensive training programme, which featured lectures, presentations, research projects, study tours and practical exercises, had equipped the officers with the analytical, leadership and professional competencies required to excel in personnel and administrative appointments within their respective Services. He urged the graduands to apply the knowledge gained to enhance service delivery while upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and discipline. Air Vice Marshal Kehinde further commended the Chief of the Air Staff’s unwavering commitment to capacity development, noting that sustained investment in training continues to enhance the operational capability of the NAF while providing valuable professional military education opportunities for allied nations.
Earlier, the Commandant of NAFIAM, Air Commodore Isaiah Taiwo, expressed confidence that the graduating officers had acquired the requisite knowledge and skills to make meaningful contributions to operational effectiveness upon their return to the Ghana Armed Forces. He reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to sustaining excellence in professional military education in line with the CAS’s Command Philosophy and appreciated the continued support of the Chief of the Air Staff, the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, the Ghana Defence Attaché and other stakeholders whose collaboration has contributed to the Institute’s success. The graduation further highlights the NAF’s expanding role in strengthening regional defence partnerships, enhancing interoperability among allied armed forces and building the collective capacity needed to promote lasting peace, stability and security across West Africa.
