
Nigerian Air Force Celebrates International Nurses Week, Reaffirms Commitment To Quality Healthcare Delivery
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has joined the global nursing community in commemorating the 2026 International Nurses’ Week with a renewed call for professionalism, dedication, and excellence in healthcare delivery. The celebration, held at the 011 Presidential Air Fleet (PAF) Clinic, Abuja, on 7 May 2026, brought together nurses, senior officers, and healthcare personnel under the theme, “Our Nurses, Our Future: Empowered Nurses Save Lives.” The event highlighted the invaluable contributions of NAF nurses to healthcare delivery and operational support across the Service and the nation.
Representing the Commander 011 Presidential Air Fleet, Air Vice Marshal Olayinka Oyesola, Air Commodore AA Komolafe, speaking on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, reaffirmed the NAF leadership’s commitment to improving the welfare, capacity development, and professional growth of nursing personnel across the Service in recognition of their critical role in healthcare delivery and operational support. In her remarks, the Director of Nursing Services, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Group Captain Ann Chizoba Akujuobi, encouraged NAF nurses to remain steadfast in upholding the highest standards of professionalism, compassion, and ethical conduct in the discharge of their duties. She described nurses as the backbone of the healthcare system and urged them to embrace innovation and opportunities for continuous professional growth in order to enhance healthcare delivery within the Service and the nation at large.
In line with the week-long global observance, similar activities were simultaneously conducted across all 13 NAF Hospitals and several medical centres nationwide with strong support from Air Officers Commanding, commanders, and senior officers. The activities featured health walks, medical check-ups, lectures, health talks, and public sensitization programmes aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and promoting public health awareness. The celebration further underscored the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to repositioning its nursing workforce for greater efficiency and service excellence in line with the command philosophy and strategic vision of the CAS.
