The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 2 May 2019, commissioned 3 newly renovated residential buildings for personnel at the NAF Base, Bill Clinton Drive Abuja. The renovation was undertaken to ensure that the dilapidated buildings were restored and upgraded to provide more befitting accommodation for personnel and their families.

The renovation works included remodeling, re-roofing, painting and landscaping. They also entailed the replacement of doors, windows as well as electrical and plumbing fittings and fixtures, amongst others.

Speaking during the commissioning, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who was represented by the Chief of Administration, Headquarters NAF, Air Vice Marshal Kingsley Lar, stated that the current administration embarked upon the renovation of the buildings, not only to further improve accommodation sufficiency beyond the 70 per cent level recorded at the beginning of 2019, but also, to make the buildings more conducive for personnel and their families. He noted that the NAF would sustain its efforts to emplace welfare-boosting projects as a way of further motivating personnel to be more effective in the performance of their duties.

Earlier in his remarks, the Commander 053 Headquarters NAF Camp, Air Commodore Abubakar Yusuf, thanked the CAS for always placing premium on the welfare of personnel. He admonished the occupants of the renovated blocks to responsibly utilise and maintain its facilities.
