
Nigerian Army Armour School Commandant Charges A3 Crewman Graduates To Sustain Excellence, Serve As Corps Ambassadors
The Commandant of the Nigerian Army Armour School (NAAS), Major General Abubakar Ahmed, on Friday 19 June 2026 charged graduating students of A3 Crewman Course 99/26 to sustain the high training standards attained during their course at NAAS and serve as worthy ambassadors of the Armoured Corps in Armour Fighting Vehicle operations across Nigerian Army theatres.
Major General Ahmed gave the charge during the graduation ceremony held at the Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya Auditorium, Obienu Barracks, Bauchi State. The course, which commenced on 9 January 2026, drew soldiers from various formations and units nationwide.
Congratulating the graduands, the Commandant urged them to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during training to excel in their duties and uphold the Chief of Army Staff’s Command philosophy in their respective units. He commended the students for their discipline and commitment throughout the course.
Emphasizing the strategic importance of their role, Major General Ahmed noted that rising insecurity across the country has increased the demand for competent crewmen to operate and protect Armour Fighting Vehicles, (AFVs) in all theatres of operation. He encouraged them to pursue continuous professional development and strive harder in future assignments.
The Commandant expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu for logistics support and to the Commander Armoured Corps, Major General Umar Abubakar, for his guidance toward achieving the school’s mandate. He also thanked staff officers, instructors and administrative staff for ensuring the smooth conduct of the course.
Delivering the course brief, the Chief Instructor, Automotive Department, Lieutenant Colonel A Tshala, thanked the Commandant for his unwavering support and mentorship. He reported that the students demonstrated discipline and determination, reflected in their above-average overall performance. He stated that the A3 Crewman Course is designed to introduce soldiers to AFVs in the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps inventory through theoretical and practical exercises across departments and that all course objectives were fully achieved.
Highlights of the ceremony included the presentation of certificates to all graduands, merit awards to outstanding students and group photograph.
