Nigerian Army Sensitizes Troops On Drug Abuse

The Commander 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Mohammed Aminu has organized a – 1-day sensitization and enlightenment lecture on drug abuse. The lecture was held at the 35 Vulcans Officers’ Mess Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta Ogun State.

The commander who was decorated as an ambassador of War Against Drugs Abuse by the Commander National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Ogun State Command took the initiative to sensitize troops, and barrack youths and women on drug abuse and other related matters.

The sensitization lecture was delivered by the Commander of Narcotics Ibiba Jane Odili who is the Commander NDLEA Ogun State Command, a senior drug enforcement expert, an author and a humanitarian agent. The lecture enlightened troops and their families on the negative use of drugs, symptoms of drug abuse, drug addiction, and effects on the brain and organs of the body amongst others.

The commander represented at the lecture by Colonel Legborsi Nule in his remarks emphasised that men who adopt the profession of arms must avoid abusing illicit drugs to have a sound mindset for effective decision-making as professionals, especially during all military operations. He further charges barracks youths to shun the habit of indulging in substances that are inimical to their mental and physical wellness.

Highlight of the event includes; the presentation of plaquthe es, an interactive session which was concluded with group photographs.
