Nigerian Police Arrest Notorious Robbery Gang Lead By Suspected Fake Soldier
Notorious armed robbery gang led by a suspected fake soldier who operates in FCT, Kaduna and benue states and specializes in car snatching from innocent victims at gun point and robbing them of their valuables.
It would be recalled that on the 14th August, 2018, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, NPM, mni, ordered the immediate overhauling of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) to Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) to address complaints and allegations on human rights violations against some of the personnel of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) from members of the public in some parts of the Country and make the Squad more intelligence driven, effective and efficient in the prevention and detection of Armed Robbery, Kidnapping and the apprehension of offenders linked to the stated offences only. These efforts have resulted in several landmark achievements in the arrest of vicious and notorious criminal gangs.

On 25th July, 2018 at about 2100hrs, consequent on the distress call received from one Francis Moloku of Maraba, Karu LGA of Nasarawa State who reported that he was attacked at gun point by four (4) armed men along Area 11, Garki, FCT, Abuja who robbed him of his Toyota Corolla with Reg. No. RSH 793 DE 2004 model and other valuables.
Operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) were immediately dispatched to the scene; they relentlessly trailed the suspects and intercepted them on their way to their hideout in Makurdi, Benue State. The Federal SARS team after exchange of gun fire with the suspects arrested the gang leader, one suspected fake soldier with forged service No. 013691256, L/CPL Achile Solomon who has been parading himself as a serving soldier attached to the 192 battalion Owode, Ogun State and his gang members Matthew Okita, Sunday Otene and the said Toyota Corolla recovered from them.
The suspects confessed and admitted to be members of a four (4) man armed robbery gang with their commander called Idu still at large. They also confessed to the Police Investigation Team that they operate in FCT, Kaduna and Benue axis, attack and rob innocent members of the public of their vehicles, money and other valuable items.
All the above mentioned exhibits were also recovered from their possession. They will be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.
