Oluremi Tinubu Seeks Police Protection from Dino Melaye

Oluremi Tinubu, the senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District has made a complaint to the police against her colleague, Dino Melaye (Kogi West), after the reported verbal exchange where they traded insults behind closed doors.

In the initial report of the altercation between both senators, Dino had allegedly threatened to beat Tinubu up and “impregnate” her.

But the Kogi senator had denied that he threatened Tinubu. He, however, said Tinubu called him a dog and a thug during the closed-door meeting.

In the letter dated July 18, 2016, and addressed to the Acting Inspector General of Police, Tinubu said Dino used “vulgar abuse” on her person and threatened to assault her.

It was the timely intervention of a number of colleagues which prevented senator Dino from unleashing physical attack on me. However, as the leadership of the senate did not call him to order in the circumstance, he proceeded to threaten my life without any provocation whatsoever.”

She made reference to a scuffle Melaye was involved in when he was a member of the House of Representative and claimed that the fight led to the death of a member. She, therefore, called on the police to provide her adequate security.
