Police Reveal Reason Why Rapper Offset Was Arrested

Authorities have finally explained why Cardi B’s husband, Offset, was arrested last week.

Recall that the rapper whose real name is Kiari Cephus was stopped by the Atlanta Police Airport Division for having illegally tinted windows, and when a search of the SUV was conducted by the officers, it was discovered that he was carrying at least one gun – a felony since he is a convicted felon on probation – and marijuana.

Offset was booked into Clayton County Jail and charged with two felonies –one, for possession of a weapon during a crime, and possession of a firearm by a felon; as well as misdemeanors for improper lane change and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Now, police, according to TMZ’s report, claim that the Migos member’s car was “weaving through traffic”and was pulled over for “failure to maintain lane” when crossing over a solid yellow line.

Police allegedly found three weapons, less than an ounce of marijuana, and $107,000 in the vehicle.

While Offset was charged with illegal possession of firearms, his rapper’s attorney Drew Findling insist that the the guns belonged to Offset’s assistant, a licensed gun holder, who was in the car at the time of the incident.

Findling also expressed his skepticism regarding the case, saying that Offset was being targeted because he is a successful African-America.

“It’s a common theme. We’re talking about a young, African-American man driving a shiny, beautiful luxury car and clad in designer clothes and watches and jewelry,” Findling explained. “Unfortunately people in his genre become a target for law enforcement who think that lifestyle is connected to some illegal activity … and that is a sad statement.”
