Rivers State Monarch Expresses Appreciation To Nigerian Army For Peace In Abuloma Kingdom

The King of the ancient kingdom of Abuloma, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, His Royal Highness (HRH), Brigadier General Bright Ateke Fibionumama(rtd), has expressed his appreciation to the Nigerian Army (NA) and indeed, the Chief of Army Staff(COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja for the peace that permeates his kingdom. He made this disclosure, when the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army/Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, Major General Jamal Abdussalam paid him homage at his palace in Abuloma, Rivers State.

King Fibionumama thanked the GOC for the visit, adding that as a people, they sincerely appreciate the gesture. He further thanked the NA for recognizing him as one of them. He used the medium to inform the GOC that, his kingdom will continue to support the NA in discharging its constitutional responsbilities. The visit he said, has opened a new vista of relationship between his kingdom and the NA, adding that the Barracks community in Port Harcourt, and indeed the Division will always be a part of the Abuloma kingdom. This he said, will strengthen the ties between the NA and his kingdom.

Earlier, stating the reason of his visit, the GOC stated that on assumption of command, he considered it very necessary to visit critical stakeholders, as part of his key leadership engagement drive to pay his respect. This he said, accounted for reasons he visited the king, whom he said has been a seasoned senior officer that has made his mark in the NA. The GOC, further remarked that he was at the palace to seek royal blessings and guidance in discharging his responsibility in line with the command philosophy of the COAS.

He identified King Fibionumama as one the NA is proud of, adding that as customs demands in the NA, he was at the palace to pay him homage. He reiterated that as young officers back in the days, they were always looking upto him as a role model.

The visit had in attendance council of chiefs in Abuloma kingdom, the Commander 6 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Edet Effiong and some commanders of 6 Division affiliated formations.

Major attraction during the visit was the exchange of souvenirs and group photograph.
