Sony Music Africa Boss Accuses Ycee of Defamation: Ycee Replies
Sony Music Africa boss Michael Ugwu accuses Ycee of defamation as he finally reacted to the accusations leveled against him by the rapper days ago.
In case you missed all the drama: two days ago, the Jagaban rapper took to his Twitter to accuse the music company of ripping off his hard works. He alleged that many music execs know of this alleged fraud, and he went on to ‘advise’ younger stars to mind the kind of contract they sign
Ycee copped the exclusive deal with Sony in October 2016, and all was going well, many people assumed, until his outburst.
Reacting to the accusations, Michael Ugwu said this was not the first time people would be making such claims..
Not the first time I’ve been called out and I doubt It will be the last #musicbusiness #roughandsmooth #issarollercoaster

However, that there are appropriate channels for handling grudges..
Appropriate methods of contract dispute resolution. 1)Negotiation 2)Mediation 3)Arbitration 4)Litigation #appropriate

And since Ycee failed to follow these channels, it is why he is calling what the rapper did by its name: character defamation.
The act of making false statements about another which harms his reputation. Defamatory statements broadcast over media = libel #defamation

It wasn’t until Ugwu has spoken that Ycee finally opened up on what the company allegedly did; how they supposedly ‘ripped’ him off.

False????? You sat on my EP for months without doing anything.
My sweat, my life and all I've got.
Thank God my label had a plan B. https://t.co/pjf1gagseU

Well, while Ycee and his Nigerian label Tinny Entertainment are working their own ‘plan b’, Michael Ugwu benevolently reminded the rapper that a contract is a contract: binding.
A contract is a "voluntary" arrangement between two or more parties that is enforceable by law as a binding legal agreement #issacontract

We are guessing that a lawsuit is on the way, and if Ycee drops the said EP without Sony’s approval, he may be having a double lawsuit on his lap.
Closing his argument, Ugwu added this:
Twitter is a special place with all kinds of characters I still don't see why execs can't turn excellent revenue numbers into decent profits
