Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr Wants Vincent Enyeama Back

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has revealed that he is open to recalling former captain Vincent Enyeama to the team.

According to Rohr, the former no 1 goalkeeper only left the senior national team because of his problems with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), and he would fancy a return for the experienced shot-stopper.

Lille OSC goalkeeper Enyeama quit the Super Eagles in 2015 after a row with former coach Sunday Oliseh during a training camp in Belgium.

However, Rohr has since stated that the door is open for the 34-year-old goalie, who earned 101 caps in his 13 years with the national side, Africanfootball writes.

“The door is open for Vincent Enyeama in the national team,” Rohr said in an interview over the weekend.

“I think he had a problem with the federation, so he wanted someone to call him before coming.

“They called him or they didn’t reach him I don’t know,” the German tactician continued.

”We have three goalkeepers at the moment but we will welcome everybody who will respect our work rate, solidarity and humility.

And not expect special favors. So the door is opened also to Enyeama.”

Rohr was recently in the country to discuss squad selection with NNFF technical committee as Nigeria gear up for the 2019 Afcon qualifiers beginning with a clash against South Africa in June.
