The Premier League title appears to be headed Leicester City’s way after Tottenham Hotspur could only manage a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane on Monday.
Monday’s result now leaves Leicester, who thrashed Swansea City 4-0 on Sunday, seven points clear of Spurs with three matches remaining, meaning if Claudio Ranieri’s men win at Manchester United on Sunday they will become crowned English champions for the first time regardless of scores elsewhere.
Albion defender Craig Dawson headed home the equaliser on the 77th minute after scoring an own-goal in the first-half, dealing a crippling blow to the title aspirations of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Things even got worse for Spurs after video footage emerged on Twitter which showed Dele Alli appearing to punch Albion midfielder Claudio Yacob in the stomach during the first half, an incident that was missed by referee Mike Jones leaving open the prospect of a review by the Football Association.
This means Alli, the newly-crowned Professional Footballers Association’s Young Player of the Year could be banned from the remainder of north London club’s campaign.
