Usain Bolt Signs for a Football Club
Sprint legend Usain Bolt has revealed that he has finally landed a contact with a football club.
Bolt, 31, is an ardent lover of football and he recently took to social media to announce that he will be joining a football club – but the club will not be revealed until Tuesday.
The eight-time Olympic gold medallist posted a video on Twitter which was captioned: “I’ve signed for a football team! Find out which one this Tuesday at 8am GMT.”
The legendary Jamaican retired from athletics in August after a career that saw him win both 100 metres and 200m Olympic gold on three separate occasions, with world records in both events.
Thanks to links between his sponsors Puma and Borussia Dortmund, he has a trial lined up in in March, during the international break
Bolt, a diehard Manchester United fan, had previously expressed his desire to play for the club after he hung up his spikes.
“One of my biggest dreams is to sign for Manchester United,” he said.
“I’ve spoken to Alex Ferguson and I told him he needs to put in a good word. He told me if I get fit and ready, he will see what he can do.”
The Jamaican superstar, who had a summer of decadence after his retirement, has been practising his skills with the South African league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
It remains to be seen if he would have the same influence on the pitch as he did on the tracks. Lol
