World Cup: Rohr to Drop 5 Players After DR Congo Friendly
Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr has confirmed that he will drop five players from his 2018 World Cup squad after Monday’s friendly match against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Port Harcourt.
The Super Eagles have been in a pre-World Cup camp in Uyo for since last week after Rohr released a 30-man provisional list.
And the German tactician, who ws at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo when Nigeria’s team B took on Atletico Madrid in a friendly earlier this week, said he will make the first cut before they travel to London to take on England.
After the friendly against the Three Lions on June 2, the German will drop two more players and release his final 23-man squad for the Russia Mundial.
“Only 25 players will travel to England. The final list will be after the England match,” Rohr told newsmen at the team’s camp in Uyo.
“When the final 23 is picked, we will work on set pieces. We have not had enough time so far.”
The three-time African champions will begin their World Cup campaign with a clash against Croatia on June 16.
