Nigerian Air Force Upgrades Air Facilities In Borno State To Fight Insurgency

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is currently expanding and upgrading the air facilities in its Forward Operation Base (FOB) in Monguno in order to intensify the war against Boko Haram Terrorists particularly in Northern Borno.

The Chief of Training and Operations for the NAF, Air Vice Marshal Abdullahi Iya disclosed this yesterday while on operational visit to the 105 Composite Group, NAF in Maiduguri.

The NAF he said is preparing to launch a new phase of counter insurgency offensive in support of the Multinational Joint Task Force to ensure that there is no resurgence of the BHTs in any part of the Northeast.

According to him, the NAF is upgrading the Monguno facilities to accommodate its combat helicopters employed for the counter insurgency operation.

He reassured that the NAF Would continue to do all within it constitutional power to support the ground and maritime forces until the insurgents are no more.

Speaking on the recent attack on the NAF helicopter conveying some personnel enroute Gwoza for medical outreach, Iya said that there was no serious damage done to the helicopter as NAF technical team has fixed the affected part and is now fully back to operation. Likewise, the airman that sustain injury during the attack is in good medical condition now, he said.
