NACOLM Africa Study Tour 2024 Team Kenya Concludes Her Five Days Tour In Grand Style

The Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) Africa Study Tour (AST) 2023, team kenya completes tour on high note with visit to Kenya Electricity Generating Company as the Commandant NACOLM, Major General Adekunle Adeyinka hosts delegates to a dinner on 26 May 2023.

The Team comprising students and Directing Staff led by Colonel Kingsley Inyang, rounded up a 5 days study tour to Kenya with a visit to Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) located at Naibasha.

The Team was received by a top management staff of the company at the Olkaria Geothermal Development Project Area. The team received presentation on the installed capacity of the electricity generating plant which include Hydro 825.69 megawat (MW), Geothermal 799 MW, Thermal 253.5 MW and Wind 25.5 MW.

The company which is the Kenya’s largest energy sector has an installed capacity of 1,904 MW and since its inception in 1998 after government of Kenya restructured the energy sector with the goal of achieving efficient usage of resources allocated for generation, transmission and distribution of electricity.

Part of the presentation also covered geothermal project development stages, prefeasibility, developing drilling and geothermal potential in Africa. Shortly after the presentation and interactive session, the team were taken on a guided tour of the facility (Geothermal Development Project Area).

It will be recalled that during the 5 days study tour, the Team visited several Kenya Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) including the Headquarters Kenyan Defence Forces (HQ KDK), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Inland Dry Container Depot, August 7th Memorial Park amongst others.

Equipped with increased knowledge on Kenya success story. The students will seek to utilizing the knowledge gained from the visit in putting together reports on the study tour. The visit served to raise awareness of how Kenya successfully utilized multi sector and multi level efforts for enhanced national security lessons for Nigeria.

In another development, the Commandant, Major General Adeyinka, who is the overall tour director hosted the delegation to a dinner. The event was attended by dignitaries including the Nigerian High Commissioner in Kenya, Ambassador Yusuf Yunusa, represented by the Defence Attache Kenya with concurrent accreditation to Seychelles and Somalia Colonel RU Mairiga, Deputy Defence Attache Addis Ababa Wing Commander CO Omoku and staff of the Nigerian High Commission in Kenya.
