Army War College Nigeria Delegation Visits GOC 7 Division, Showers Commendation On Progress Made So Far In The Ongoing Fight Against Insurgency

In line with the Army War College Nigeria’s (AWCN) Module 7 which covers operation and campaign planning, a delegation from the College comprising the Deputy Commandant, Durector of Studies had on 4 September 2026 paid a courtesy visit to the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) Brigadier General Solomon Diwa.

Speaking during the visit, the Team Leader who is the Deputy Commandant, Director of Studies AWCN Brigadier General Moyosore Akin- Ojo asserted that the visit was to expose operational level commanders with the reality in the field for more efficient campaign planning of the Nigerian Army operation particularly in OPHK theatre of operation.

The Deputy Commandant added that having concluded campaign planning for OPHK, a deliberate efforts to visits troops locations would arm participants with requisite knowledge of understanding the dynamics of the operation for appropriate review of campaign planning for succesful execution of military operation.

In his words, “participants of Course 10 / 2026 were groomed in the art of campaign planning and needed to consolidate their planning with reality on the ground for seamless and succeesful execution of military operation”.

Brigadier General Akin- Ojo commended the General Officer Commanding for providing a sterling leadership that motivates troops of sector 1 OPHK to demonstrate resilience, commitment and dedication while sustaining presure on insurgents for the restoration of lasting peace and development in Borno state and North East in general.

Responding during the visit, the Acting GOC 7 Division Brigadier General Diwa appreciated the delegation and enjoined them to exploit gaps in sector 1 Joint Operation Area for realistic submission after the visit.

The GOC also intimated the delegation on the evolving nature of the ongoing counter terrorism and counter insurgency operation in Borno state and urged them to imbibe the philosophy of critical thinking to device workable solution to the terrorits’ evolving tactics.

The delegation comprised of the Deputy Commandant, Director of Studies and Distinguished members of Faculty as well as participants of course 10 / 2026. The Team further visited 112 Task Force Battalion Mafa and Forward Operating Base Ngwom as parts of its itenary to front lines under sector 1 Area of Responsibility. AWCN was established with the mission of “producing well-trained, educated and inspired operational level leaders for the Nigerian Army “.

Highlights of the visit were robust operational discussion, signing of visitors’ book, presentation of sourvenirs and group photographs.
