ISWAP FIGHTERS ABDUCT THREE SIBLINGS IN THE ASKIRA UBA EMIRATE IN BORNO

Intelligence have gathered that ISWAP fighters have abducted a 50-year-old man, Mohammed Askira, alongside his two brothers who belong to the royal family of Askira Uba Emirate of Borno State.

Sources disclose that the victims were ambushed while commuting to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, after attending a function in Askira Uba town.

This was 24 hours after ISWAP fighters in military uniforms kidnapped five civilians at Tamsukau along the Damaturu-Maiduguri road.

The abduction of the Askira siblings by the insurgents comes days after members of ISWAP Judicial Council appointed 45-year old Sani Shuwaram (Wali) as its new leader in Lake Chad.

Intelligence gathered that Shuwaram led over 200 ISIS mercenaries from Libya and Syria Borno State, North-East Nigeria, with the intention of launching attacks in Baga, Malam Fatori, and Marte communities.
