
Major General Olatoye Charges Promoted NDA Officers To Uphold Consistency and Exemplary Leadership
The Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General Oluyemi Thomas Olatoye, has charged newly promoted NDA officers to imbibe the core principles of consistency and exemplary leadership as foundational pillars for effective military service.
General Olatoye gave the charge during the decoration ceremony of Captain GN Odiobara, Captain O Ayo-Bello and Flight Lieutenant KO Olagunju at Valour Hall, Headquarters Nigerian Defence Academy, Afaka, Kaduna State on Thursday 10 September 2026.
Congratulating the newly promoted officers on their well-deserved elevation, the Commandant reminded the officers that promotion signifies the beginning of higher responsibilities. He asserted that the elevation of the officers was a testament to their dedication, consistency, loyalty and adherence to the core values of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. Thereafter, he urged the newly promoted officers to demonstrate leadership through integrity, mentorship and the development of their subordinates, stating that true leaders correct, guide and inspire growth. General Olatoye also urged the officers to remain worthy ambassadors of the Nigerian Defence Academy and to continue to uphold the enduring ideals of professionalism, discipline, and excellence.
In appreciation for their elevation, the representative of the newly promoted officers, Flight Lieutenant KO Olagunju expressed profound gratitude to the Service Chiefs for finding them worthy to be promoted. Furthermore, he thanked the Commandant NDA for his exemplary leadership and consistent support. He equally thanked the Deputy Commandant, principal staff officers, officers, civilian staff, families and well-wishers who graced the ceremony.
The climax of the event was the decoration of the newly promoted officers with their new badges of rank.
