Theatre Commander Operation Hadin Kai Hosts United Nations World Food Programme and Borno State Education Trust Fund, Reaffirms Commitment To Strategic Partnerships
The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, on 23 July 2026 received separate delegations from the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), led by the Head of Regional Security, West Africa, Susan Ngueguen, and the Executive Secretary, Borno State Education Trust Fund (ETF), Hon. Grema Terab, at the Headquarters Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI, Maiduguri. The visits underscored the shared commitment of security, humanitarian and government institutions to strengthening peace, stability and recovery efforts across the North East.
During the engagements, the Theatre Commander reaffirmed OPHK’s commitment to sustaining strategic partnerships with humanitarian and development organisations as well as relevant government agencies. He emphasised that the prevailing improvements in the security environment have continued to facilitate humanitarian access, support the safe resettlement of displaced communities and create conditions for socio-economic activities to thrive.
Major General Abubakar commended the WFP for its humanitarian interventions across Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States while assuring the organisation of OPHK’s continued support in providing a secure environment for the delivery of life-saving assistance. He, however, stressed the importance of effective coordination and accountability to prevent humanitarian supplies from being diverted for terrorist use, while highlighting OPHK’s ongoing non-kinetic operations, community engagement and stabilisation initiatives.
In a separate meeting, the Theatre Commander congratulated Hon. Grema Terab on his appointment as Executive Secretary of the Borno State Education Trust Fund and commended the agency’s contributions to educational development through the provision of infrastructure, learning materials and scholarship opportunities. He noted that access to quality education remains fundamental to sustaining peace and building resilient communities.
Speaking on behalf of his delegation, Hon. Grema Terab commended the officers and troops of Operation HADIN KAI for their professionalism, resilience and sacrifices in protecting lives and critical infrastructure. He particularly lauded the troops for foiling the recent terrorist attempt to abduct students at the former Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Monguno facility, noting that their efforts have continued to strengthen public confidence and support the restoration of normalcy across the region.
Present during the engagements were the Chief of Staff, Headquarters Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, Component Commanders, Principal Staff Officers and other senior officers. The visits concluded with the presentation of souvenirs and group photographs, reaffirming the enduring partnership between Operation HADIN KAI and its strategic partners in advancing lasting peace, security and development in the North East geopolitical zone.
