GUNMEN IN ARMY UNIFORM ATTACK EBONYI COMMUNITY, ABDUCT VILLAGE HEAD AND FOUR OTHERS

Intelligence have gathered that gunmen in army uniform on Thursday invaded Oshiagu Amia Ngbo in Umuogudu Akpu Ngbo Community, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, abducting their village head and four others.

It was learnt that the village head identified as Deacon John Ulebe Nnaji, of Ngbo, was abducted alongside four other persons while the assailants inflicted severe injuries on several other residents of the community.

Intelligence gathered that the assailants invaded the village on motorcycles, and also wearing army uniforms. This prompted residents of the area to relax thinking that they were soldiers on a peace mission in Effium.

Sources say the gunmen shot sporadically at defenceless residents for about 45 minutes before leaving with the abductees.

This is coming three days after suspected herdsmen attacked four communities in Ohaukwu LGA and killed about 16 locals.

This prompted the Ebonyi State Government to declare a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Ohaukwu LGA.
