Media Group Lauds Nigerian Air Force Over Role Played In Resolving Arepo Crisis

Core Media Group, owners of Core TV News and Core Media, has commended the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for the significant role it played in routing out militants and other criminal elements from Iroko creeks in Arepo area of Ogun State as well as its continuous efforts in the counterinsurgency operations in Northeastern Nigeria. The Managing Director of the Group, Mr Olajide Oladiran, made the commendation today when he led other members of the Group’s management team to Headquarters NAF, Abuja on a courtesy visit to explore areas of cooperation.

The Managing Director recalled the key role played by the NAF in dislodging pipeline vandals and other criminal elements through its air operations in Arepo, Awawa, Elepete and Ibafo areas in Ogun State and Ishawo, Igando and Igbolomu areas of Ikorodu in Lagos State. The intensity of the air operations, according to him, saw to the destruction of the criminal hideouts as well as the camps that harboured pipeline vandals and kidnappers within the areas. Mr Olajide added that while the NAF continues its good work in ensuring that Nigerians live in a safe and secured environment, Core TV News would not rest on its oars in ensuring that the public is rightly informed so as to set the right agenda and guide appropriate public opinion.

In his response, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, expressed appreciation for the important role played by Core TV News in molding public opinion and for the support the NAF had received from various media organizations. He added that all the media support have contributed to the successes recorded by the Service in the past 2 years. The CAS noted that apart from the decimation of the insurgents’ capacity in the North East, through its numerous operations, the NAF had also carried out other impactful operations in other parts of the country, one of which was Operation AWATSE in the South West. The CAS stated that, in addition to its numerous air operations, the NAF had also embarked on several humanitarian services to win the hearts and minds of locals and alleviate their sufferings. “The NAF has established Level 2 hospitals in Bama and Dalori and has treated more than 300,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). NAF surgeons have also carried out hundreds of surgeries on IDPs for various ailments thereby giving them the opportunity to live a better life”, he added.

The NAF sees the media as a veritable partner in conducting its Media Operations, which is an essential aspect of the overall campaign strategy in the fight to rid Nigeria of Insurgency, terrorism and other forms of criminalities.
